Be Part of a New Chapter in Correctional Health | GP Locum Roles Across Victoria

At Prescript, we place doctors where they can have the greatest impact — on patients, on communities, and on their own professional fulfilment. Right now, we’re supporting the rollout of a major correctional health expansion across Victoria — including a brand-new maximum-security facility just outside Geelong, as well as several metro and regional correctional sites.

These purpose-built environments are designed to deliver consistent, high-quality primary care in a secure and structured setting. With modern medical spaces, on-site multidisciplinary teams, and a strong focus on stability, rehabilitation and preventative health, these roles offer meaningful, well-supported clinical work — ideal for GPs looking to diversify their experience or balance part-time locum work with other commitments.

The Position

We’re looking for experienced GPs to deliver primary care across a network of correctional health facilities in Victoria — including newly opened sites and well-established centres in both metropolitan Melbourne and regional hubs.

You’ll be working within collaborative clinical teams, alongside nursing, mental health and allied health professionals. Each facility offers a defined scope of practice, comprehensive support, and a commitment to continuity of care for an adult patient population.

No prior experience in correctional health is required — just solid clinical confidence, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in structured care settings.

Dates Available

We have ongoing and immediate availability at both metro and regional facilities throughout June, July and August 2025.

  • Brand-new, state-of-the-art facility just outside Geelong now onboarding its first patient cohort — daily shifts across mornings and afternoons, 7 days a week.

  • Metropolitan sites in Melbourne’s inner-west and western suburbs with regular weekday availability.

  • Regional sites across western and central Victoria — with multiple-day blocks, Monday to Friday. Travel support is available for doctors based in Melbourne.

Tell us your availability, and we’ll offer shifts that fit your preferences — whether it’s one day a week, a fortnightly block, or something more regular.

Benefits Provided

  • $150/hr standard rate (Medical Officer)

  • $180/hr for Senior Medical Officers (OSTP approved)

  • + $30/hr weekend uplift

  • $230/hr public holiday rate

  • Paid weekly — via payroll (inclusive of super) or PTY Ltd invoice

  • Travel allowance of $0.88/km for regional work

  • Prescript Concierge service: full logistics, onboarding, and credentialing support handled for you

What We Require From You

  • AHPRA registration (General or Specialist)

  • Fellowship (FRACGP or equivalent) preferred but not essential

  • OSTP approval (required for SMO rate — we can assist)

  • Medical indemnity insurance

  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience

  • Confident communicator and team player

  • Experience in emergency, addiction or mental health settings is welcome but not essential
