Pacific Jewel - Norfolk Island Rural Generalist 2024 Locum Dates

Your South Pacific working holiday could kick off 2024 with this fantastic Rural Generalist role on Norfolk Island.  There’s so much more to Norfolk island than being recognised for it’s popular pine trees  – It’s a treasure box full of history,  amazing facts,  incredible landscapes and monumental constitutional firsts all rolled up and gifted to us to unpack whatever brilliant jewel of surprise that grabs your attention -  in one of THE most popular Locum destinations available.

The Position

Working alongside 4 other GPs,  you will be providing primary care and emergency services to Norfolk Island’s permanent community and transient tourist population.

On-call responsibilities are shared,  allowing you to explore your surrounds 5 evenings out of 7 and 3 out of 4 of your weekends.  Your work will be split between the local district hospital and multi-purpose centre with support from experienced nursing, community,  mental and allied health teams.

Returning GPs or those able to offer longer blocks are preferred for continuity of care, so why not make this a repeat or extended locum.  We are happy to connect you with other Locums who have worked on Norfolk Island to share their experience with you.

Rural Generalists - Narrandera NSW - GP VMO or GP Only Dates

Prescript is helping Narrandera Health Service find committed Rural Generalists to fill gaps in their clinic & hospital roster during October and November 2023. There are both GP VMO and GP-only dates available, with GP VMOs earning $3,000 per day and GP-only rates at 70% of billings.

Since an innovative Rural Generalist training model was implemented across Murrumbidgee in 2020, it has emerged as one of the best health services in NSW (and wider Australia) to provide GP and hospital coverage. Prescript has so far provided locum doctors across 13 of their regional and rural sites, and we consistently receive excellent feedback on the work environments, locations, remuneration and provisions to locums – we’re proud to have such a close relationship with their health services managers and wider workforce team.

The Position

You will be situated primarily in the local medical centre providing primary care coverage between 9am-5:30pm to the local community. Along with one other GP VMO, you will also be rostered on-call for the hospital emergency department and inpatient ward. On-call is shared allowing you rest between shifts in the hospital.

  • GP VMO dates 23rd October – 31st October

  • 50% on-call during this period (24th, 26th, 27th & 30th October)

  • Working alongside another Prescript Locum

  • Excellent feedback on the practice, hospital, workload and management team

  • Covering the leave of GP registrar exams

  • 9-5:30 when working in the GP practice (hour break)

  • 0800-1800 when rostered in the hospital, ward rounds then available for ED presentations

  • On-call after 1800 only for Cat 1&2 presentations

  • $3000 per day

  • Additional GP-only dates – 23rd October – 17th November – 70% of billings (not daily rate) – 4-6 patients per hour

When on-call for the hospital, you will complete a ward round in the morning before commencing at the GP practice, and then be on hand for any Cat 1-3 ED presentations or inpatient follow-up during the day. Nursing staff in the hospital are very experienced and will direct non-urgent presentations to the GP practice, as to not disturb GP appointments unnecessarily. Between 6pm-8am, you will be on-call for Cat 1-2 presentations only – VRGS can be deployed to assist afterhours if necessary.

  • GP Anaesthetist & GP Obstetrician on-call

  • Critical Care Advisory Service support if required

GP Indigenous Health Locums - Northern Territory - Up to $2000 Per Day

Prescript requires locum GPs to assist in the NT communities of Borroloola and Jabiru for up to $2000 per day.

Dates are available from October 2023 to February 2024 - minimum of three-week blocks accepted for continuity of care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant difference within Indigenous Health in a spectacular part of Australia. Borroloola and Jabiru are two distinct gems in the Northern Territory, offering unique and enriching experiences that showcase the Indigenous cultures and natural wonders of Australia. These communities stand as testaments to the resilience and vibrant traditions of the First Nations people.

We invite locum GPs to provide vital support to these communities and immerse themselves in the beauty of the Australian Outback.

The Position

Work is undertaken in a multi-disciplinary team delivering clinical and public health services to the residents of the community and surrounding outstations.

Clinical support is provided by the Care Flight & District Medical Service via telephone consultations and medical retrievals. Royal Darwin Hospital is the regional hospital and provides tertiary care.

Clinic hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. You will have an induction in Darwin on your first day if you have not worked in the region recently.

Borroloola, nestled on the McArthur River in the Gulf of Carpentaria, is a remote Indigenous community that proudly maintains its strong Aboriginal heritage. The town is known for its stunning natural beauty, with its rugged landscapes, vibrant wildlife, and rich cultural traditions. The indigenous Yanyuwa and Gudanji people call this place home, and their deep connection to the land is evident in their art, storytelling, and traditional practices. Visitors to Borroloola have the opportunity to experience this unique blend of culture and nature, with opportunities to engage in fishing, learn about Dreamtime stories, and witness traditional dances that have been passed down through generations.

Jabiru, on the other hand, is situated within the boundaries of the renowned Kakadu National Park. This town serves as the gateway to the park and offers a different but equally captivating experience. Jabiru is a hub for eco-tourism and conservation efforts, providing a base for visitors looking to explore the park's diverse ecosystems, ancient rock art sites, and abundant wildlife. Kakadu is not only a place of stunning natural beauty but also a significant cultural landscape for the Indigenous Bininj/Mungguy people who have inhabited the area for thousands of years. Visitors can engage in guided tours to learn about the cultural significance of the land, witness breathtaking waterfalls, and admire the striking landscapes that have inspired countless artists and storytellers.
